The Cycle World staffers pulled out all the stops in testing the “Kings of the Road- an 8 Bike Battle of the Baggers” where the Triumph received high praise for its superb handling and engineering excellence. The feature article compared the Triumph to the following competitor models:

Across fourteen pages of editorial, the Cycle World staff detail their test and findings. Three of the eight editors picked the R3Touring as the best of the bunch. The other five riders all picked the Triumph as one of the top three models in the test.
