The 2009 Racing Season has come to an end.

We're going to share some good news...and some bad.

The short version:
We improved again from last year. All of the bikes got faster throughout the season as we gained experience and our riders continued to develop their skills.

Paul Lopez ended up 10th overall in OMRRA 600 Supersport on the Triumph Daytona 675 and 12th overall on the Hyosung GT650R in 650 GP Twins, Shannon "Kitty" Lang moved from the GT650R to a much lighter and more appropriate for her size Honda RS125 (on a different team), Quentin Hogan crashed hard and broke his wrist, ending his season early.

First off - a hearty congratulations to Paul for a great effort on the Cycle Parts Racing Triumph Daytona 675.
Well done Sir, especially considering the abreviated racing season.

We consider Shannon "Kitty" Lang  to be a member of our familiy and she'll always remain a part of the Cycle Parts Racing team. A difficult decision was made that having her aboard the Cycle Parts Racing Hyosung GT650R was asking for trouble, Shannon is VERY small and the GT650R is VERY big. A size mismatch that simply couldn't be overcome, no matter how talented the rider. Rod has opted to retire the Cycle Parts Racing Hyosung GT650R from racing. We're delighted that Shannon found a ride on a Honda RS125 for the rest of the 2009 season and we will continue to cheer her on to great results. We're also wishing her well in healing from a severe season ending foot injury.

Quentin has moved onto his own Triumph Daytona 675 for 2010 following a hard, season ending crash on his Hyosung GT650RR. His broken wrist is healing well and we look forward to seeing him again in 2010.

A good time was had by all.

BIG news for 2009 -
On Friday the 10th of October we gave a try-out ride to a young, and rapidly improving new talent.

Please welcome Shannon "Kitty" Lang to the Cycle Parts Racing team.

After gaining her Expert License on a Kawasaki Ninja 250, Rod decided that he liked what he was seeing and gave her a shot at the Hyosung GT650R sprint bike. The results were dramatic. Between her first session and her last, lap times dropped by over 3 seconds. Kitty hauls the mail.

Rapid and consistent progress was made, even though it was silly cold out she stayed focused and paid attention to what she was doing. Shannon is full of positive energy, along with a great attitude. We're all looking forward to some great times (and results!) in 2009.

Here's proof of how focused this young woman is:

The last race of the 2008 OMRRA season took place last Sunday, Oct. 12th. Here's a brief recap of the
efforts made by Cycle Parts Racing:

In 2008, we broke new ground by campaigning a three bike team. Cycle Parts Racing sponsored a Triumph Daytona 675 and a pair of Hyosung GT650 motorcycles. With a low budget and limited time, as well as with three bikes to develop (and maintain) we spent the season climbing a steep learning curve.

Not every race went as well as we'd hoped, though we did see consistently improving lap times and great riding by Clint Orton and Quentin Hogan. The motorcycles were fast and reliability improved from our '07 season.

A rain crash in practice 2/3 of the way through the OMRRA season ended Clint's racing early. Prior to that unfortunate event, he was riding well and we were seeing great progress with the Triumph D675. Thanks Clint! We've enjoyed supporting your race efforts.

Quentin Hogan has been campaigning his GT650 all season and after last Sundays final event, he ended up in 19th place overall for the season. Not too bad for a guy who gives up 25 years to his competition. Good job, Quentin!

F.O.G. Racing is pleased to feature Fat Old Guys who trundle around the track on motorcycles that are far more capable of speed than the burdens they bear.

Some say racers do it for the love of speed. Some say racers do it for the love of fame. Some say racers do it for the love of riches.

We say we do it because - if we weren't out there, some other Fat Old Guy would be taking our place and then we wouldn't be having any fun at all.

Don't forget to wave as you go by. We're having a ball, you should too!
